How things work

Users:

Anonymous (unregistered) Users: Can make comments only—using a Word-type editor with filtered html—comments are posted immediately.

Authenticated (registered) Users: Can make comments and blog posts—using a Word-type editor with filtered html—comments are posted immediately, but blog posts require approval.

Trusted (registered) Users:  Can do the same as Authenticated Users but also have the  ability to post images and videos from the internet.

Content:

Comments and blog posts that contain abusive language get deleted.

How to make a blog post:

Note: Your blog posts get posted on the front page.

1. Register, and follow the email instructions. You can use your real name or a fictional one. You can use a real photo of yourself or a fictional one, or none at all.

2. Click Add Content and start your blog. Please Note: Blog posts don't get automatically posted, they get approved first. They must be in good English, well thought out, and contain something interesting--not just rants.

3. You can type directly into the editor or paste from Word. To paste from Word, place the cursor where you want to start and click the Paste from Word button:  (this should help you keep most of the Word formatting).

4. Authenticated Users can only upload 2 images from their computer files but not from the internet. Uploaded images larger than 450px wide get automatically reduced to 450px wide and are positioned at the bottom of the post.

5. When you have finished your post click Save (you don't have to worry about clicking Preview as you can edit it after you have saved it) After you have saved the post you will see it in a pink mode which means it hasn't been approved at that stage and is not showing on the front page. You can edit it from there if you need to.

6. After several good blogs, an Authenticated User can contact me and request to be upgraded to a Trusted User. Trusted Users can embed images and videos directly from the internet; please read Editing help before attempting this.

7. After several good blogs, both Authenticated and Trusted Users get a link placed to their respective blog pages under Bloggers.

How to comment:

1. Anonymous Users can only type directly into the comment form.

2. Authenticated and Trusted Users can type directly into the editor or paste from Word. To paste from Word, place the cursor where you want to start and click the Paste from Word button:   (this should help you keep most of the Word formatting).

3. Trusted Users (only available to bloggers, not commenters) can embed images and videos directly from the internet; please read Editing help before attempting this.
