An honest comparison between a 15-minutes-of-fame shooter and Anders Breivik

Terry Wallbank's picture

Adam Lanza and Anders BreivikTo start this post in a good tone, I will cynically use an old slogan that is sometimes used by the National Rifle Association because I know it pisses liberals off:

“Guns don’t kill people—people kill people”

Even though those words are old, they still get under the skin of the liberal because they are completely unable to counter them; they can’t counter them because guns don’t kill people—people kill people—period! It doesn’t matter how the liberal tries to spin it, the simple fact is this: a gun doesn’t pick itself up and drive a car to a school and pull its own trigger and shoot people.

Adam Lanza:

In the recent Connecticut shooting when Adam Lanza took guns to a school and shot 20 children and 6 adults, people were genuinely disgusted and dismayed—and rightfully so. But within hours of the shooting the left-wing media went into a frenzy; they went into their predictable knee-jerk mantra of calling for more gun controls and for the banning of assault rifles, etc. Then when the court of public opinion determined Lanza was crazy the narrative changed to an inadequate mental-health system.

However, both are wrong according to forensic psychiatrist Dr. Michael Welner. A friend of mine sent me the following video of Dr. Welner on the TV program The View. Ignore the nutty-far-left-squawking women on the View and listen to what Dr. Welner has to say; he gives a far more rational analysis of the shooting:

The key points I took from this video were:

  • “The major myth of this that we're all making a mistake about is to focus on guns and mental health at the bottom of this.”
  • “It’s going to happen again; it’s going to get worse and it’s going to target children—why? Because you’re shocked and you’ll talk about it. When somebody does a shooting at the workplace the news media doesn’t talk about it anymore.”
  • “The 24-hour-competitive news cycle can take people from being completely anonymous—in a celebrity-driven culture, which really distinguishes America—and make them larger than life.”

So, essentially, what he is saying is this: guns and mental health are not the problem, ‘15 minutes of fame’ is, which is caused by a celebrity-driven culture and mass-media coverage. In the video he also says violent-video games are a contributing factor as well.

In the following video Wayne LaPierre of the NRA virtually says the same as Dr. Welner:

Anders Breivik:

In contrast to America, Norway has strict gun-control laws, so we can quickly throw the gun-control argument out the door. The Norway shooting clearly highlights that if someone is determined enough to get hold of weapons, he or she can easily do so.

Given the evidence, we can conclude that Adam Lanza had some sort emotional disorder that caused him to go off the rails, but that is not the case with Anders Breivik. However, two psychologists were very quick to declare Breivik insane:

“Norwegian gunman Anders Breivik could avoid prison after two psychologists found he was insane during his July 22 massacre.” Mail Online

When I heard this, red flags popped up everywhere; wouldn’t an insane Breivik be very convenient for the Norwegian far-left Labour Party? An insane Breivik would mean no political accountability for the Labour Party; it would mean Breivik had no political motivation behind the shooting.

However, as we soon learned, Breivik was found to be sane and that his shooting was completely political; his political concern was multiculturalism and the Islamification of Norway, which has been caused by irrational, left-wing ideology, for which the Norwegian Labour Party is mostly culpable.

As far as I can ascertain, there are now 44,000 Muslims living in Oslo, most of which come from Iraq, Pakistan, and Somalia.

Given the problems Muslims are causing; for example, 90% of rapes in Oslo are caused by Muslims, one can easily see Breivik’s concern.

Multiculturalism: Muslim rapists in Oslo:

To bring the Norwegian problems to the attention of the world, Breivik didn’t go to a school and start randomly shooting children. He planned out his attack in detail; he set a bomb off in front of a government building to distract the police and then went to an Island and began killing Labour youth. You will notice, he didn’t kill Muslims; he went for the head of the snake; he attacked the future Labour Party.

Can I condone what he did? Absolutely not, but I can understand it. We are now living in troubled times; there is not one country in the Western world that I can think of that has true democracy anymore; there is not one country that has a clear left-wing and a clear right-wing. The waters are now very muddied; most so-called democracies now have a left-wing party and a slightly less left-wing opposition. I am afraid to say this, but Anders Breivik is only the beginning; as democracies fail around the world we are going to see a lot more Anders Breivik clones.

Sure you don't condone it Terry. You believe the same things Breivik does and it was blogs like yours that helped to convince him of the existential threat which drove him to act. Interestingly you want more people like him to have access to high-powered weapons. Why is that? To make your psycho wee prophecy more likely?

People with guns kill people, Terry. You hate that because you can't counter it. You can't counter it because it's true! It doesn't matter how you try to spin it.

Socialists pushing welfare and abortion kill far more people than guns.
I see the piece of filth holden has slithered under the door here......

Yes, they hate guns but love abortion. As for holden; just another brain-dead liberal not worth wasting breath on.

Isn't it interesting how to some of the more moronic in society, commenting on the inevitability of an event is the same as endorsing it.  So, that clearly means that were I to suggest it is inevitable that at some point, some acolyte of the paedophile prophet will again cut off some Westerner's head with a blunt knife, I am endorsing their butchery.

Terry, Holden is a virus. He has come close to destroying some otherwise-excellent blogs (John Ansell's blog and Keeping Stock, to name just two of the many whose owners have patiently tried to give - and eventually given up on - Holden space to make a single relevant, rational comment). The best way to deal with vermin is to exterminate them. If that isn't an option, at least stop them coming through the door. Let Holden stick with Farrar's and Slater's blogs - so many of the regulars there have the same outlook and viewpoint he's right at home there.

As to your post, I think you're right. Most of those who perpetrate such crimes do it for their 15 minutes. They are kiddies with too much time on their hands, too little discipline and waaaayy too much of being told how 'special' they are.  Others, such as Anders Breivik and Nadal Hasan, have statements to make. Hasan, like all of the other acolytes of the paedophile prophet, sought the slaughter or subjugation of the West to iSlam. Breivik was expressing targeted outrage at the political system which allows the Hasans of the world to infest civilised culture. Is it inevitable that these two competing ideologies will bump up against each other again in the future? You betcha. And with the cowards running the various governments of the West, it is far more likely to happen far more frequently 'here', than 'over there'.

As for Holden; is that a he? I thought it was a woman or a gay. I had those kinds of brain-less meatheads on my old blog, and once you engage them they never go away. I thought if I ignored her enough she would get tired and her mummy would give her a dummy and tuck her into bed. But it looks like I was wrong, so maybe blocking her is the best solution.

As for Breivik, when democracy fails, as it clearly is in Norway, and in Europe in general, people will inevitably pick up guns. Obama is aware of this and that is why he intends to make anti-gun mileage out of the recent shooting.

"Terry, Holden is a virus."

Holden is one of the most obsessive nut-jobs in the NZ blogosphere, and he always comes back under different handles if banned. I don't know why No Minister & Keeping Stock put up with the POS.
