I don’t know about you, but I think this guy is as guilty as sin. As far as I am concerned, Oscar Pistorius is just another Lance Armstrong—a narcissistic, self-serving prat who makes a mockery of sport. To turn the Olympic Games into a farcical display of political correctness by forcing himself into running events against able-bodied athletes is nothing other than despicable. There is the Paralympic Games for disabled athletes and the Olympic Games for able-bodied athletes. But, no, that’s not good enough for self-serving, politically-correct prats like Pistorius; people like him can’t be discriminated against; oh no, they must be admitted into the able-bodied club—much the same as self-serving gays want to be admitted into the marriage club. The simple fact is this: blades are not legs—period!
I’m not really sure what the motivation is, but as the Pistorius story unfolds it appears the liberal media, namely TVNZ and the New Zealand Herald are painting Pistorius as a victim and not as the murderer he is.
In yesterday’s Herald (AFP) article titled ‘Pistorius granted bail pending murder trial’ a quick ‘Find’ search of the name ‘Pistorius’ revealed his name was mentioned 15 times in the article; whereas, the name of the murder victim ‘Steenkamp’ was only mentioned 3 times. So it is quite obvious the story is about him and not her—for some reason the mere fact that she was shot four times in cold blood seems unimportant.
My assessment of the article is more about the tone than anything else; have a look at some of the wording from the article:
“Oscar Pistorius's family will gather to meet him, a day after his release on bail pending a murder trial over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend.”
‘Murder’ is diluted to ‘fatal shooting.’
“"The family just want time together," a source close to them said.
"They haven't thought about anything except being together."”
What about the murdered victim?
“"He is a professional athlete. He needs to keep his body in shape," said the source.”
Again, what about the murdered victim?
“It was a first victory in what is expected to be a long legal battle with the state, which accuses Pistorius of premeditated murder.”
It is this line that grabbed my attention; clearly this line indicates the writer believes Pistorius is the victim and the state is evil for bringing a ‘premeditated murder’ charge—again, no mention of the murdered victim. The wording ‘the first victory’ clearly places Pistorius in the ‘innocent underdog’ camp.
“As the two-hour ruling was read, the 26-year-old stood in the dock weeping and quivering as his family looked on, riven with tension.”
Oh, the poor victim.
“Following the magistrate's decision, Pistorius was escorted to the holding area sobbing uncontrollably, as his brother Carl hugged sister Aimee and the broader family huddled in prayer.”
Oh, the poor victim.
“"As a family, we know Oscar's version of what happened that night, and we know that it is the truth that will prevail in the coming court case."”
Once again, he’s painted as the victim.
“While he may have won bail however, Pistorius may not be able to avoid jail time.”
The writer assumes he’s innocent—again no mention of the victim with four bullet holes in her.
Now let’s turn to TVNZ News. First have a look at the video TVNZ used from BBC—I have transcribed some of it below.
“As the magistrate began to announce his decision, Oscar Pistorius slumped, sobbing, his shoulders shaking. His father reached out to try to comfort him. Then the athlete stood up and left the court as his relatives behind here started to hug and celebrate—if celebrate is the correct word; there was more relief here today; everybody knows there is a long, legal journey ahead here.”
It is quite obvious from these words that the reporter is in the Pistorius camp; he is obviously portraying Pistorius as a victim. For Christ’s sake, the guy is a murderer, and this pinhead reporter uses wording like this: ‘slumped, sobbing, shoulders shaking,’ ‘reached out…to comfort,’ ‘started to hug and celebrate,’ ‘relief here today,’ ‘long legal journey ahead.'
This wording gives no consideration to the murdered victim and her family; it just paints Pistorius as a victim—completely unethical and non-objective reporting indeed.
I hope Pistorius rots in jail for life for wasting a hottie like this.

I have never before seen such
I have never before seen such degree of discrimination against disabled people expressed so openly and I really regret the fact that people like the writer of this article can have access to the public and public opinion. Mr Wallbank has separated the people into abled and disabled and he believes that the ones cannot be compared with the others and they cannot even compete in the same races. The value of a man is in his courage ,his beliefs and his brain and nazi like attitudes separating the people into categories should have no place in the society of cultivated people.
If Mr Committed murder he should pay for that but that doesn't mean we should condemn or forget everything he has done so far.
Competing with able bodied runners was pushing grounds whereas articles and opinions like the above take all of us one step backwards.
So sophia... you don't reckon
So sophia... you don't reckon having steel instead of flesh gives him an advantage? Hence why I don't watch championchips and in particular the corrupt olympics as cheats like him make me sick. I suppose you have no issue with women competing against men.....thats until some sheila gets badly hurt , right ? He really is couragous pumping four bullets into an UNARMED women then smashing her head in with a cricket bat , a real hero this bloke is. It dosn't suprise me that morons like you admire filth like him . But what really surprises me is that you are a women and showed no empathy towards the victim.

Right on the dot D.T. In the
Right on the dot D.T. In the perfect communist world of the Sophio Ko’s everybody everywhere at all times are always equal. A seven-foot man is the same as a five-foot girl; a person in a wheel chair is the same as an able-bodied person; a blind person is the same as a person with full eye sight; people like Sophia are insane, and you can only treat them as such. Sorry, forgive me, an insane person is the same a sane person.
I just can't see their logic
I just can't see their logic , Terry . I was a bit short on her but people like her infuriate me . I have seen first hand the lies perpetrated in a court of law ( 7 years of cases and appeals ). People think courts deal with truth when in fact its a case of how the criminal defence lawyer can lie and convince the jury his/her lies are truth . Guilty or not guilty , there is NO innocent .

I think both of you fellows
I think both of you fellows failed to see my point. I think I clearly said that, of course he should pay for the murder and that again is up to the court to judge. The fact that courts may not always work the way we want them,
does not mean that we should all become judges and condemn or acquit comfortably sitting in our couches.
But anyhow that was not my point in my original message. I believe that it was quite clear that what I disagreed with was the way Mr Wallbank separates the people in able bodied and disabled bodied, something which I considered utter discrimination.
He came across to me as just being just one small step ahead of the ancient spartans that threw their disabled kids down a cliff keeping only the healthy ones.
If he was angered by the murder, which is understandable, he should have written about it and expressed all his fury about this.
Let me tell you Mr Wallbank that it is not just "people like him that should not be discriminated against", NOBODY should be discriminated against in a civilized society.
After all isn't the attitude of a person towards the disabled an indication of how civilized the person is?????
You truly live in la la land
You truly live in la la land . Everybody discriminates , even you . Have you chosen an ugly man/woman to be with ? I bet not . Short, tall, fat, thin ,short hair, long hair, caucasian, black, asian ,smoker, non smoker , druggie , drinker , non drinker etc. Utopia does not and NEVER will exist .Have a look at history and see all of the failures that man has tried under the banner of finding this so called utopia. Jim Jones ( Jonestown ) , Lenin , Stalin , Mao Tse Tung , Pol Pot , Kim Il-Sung ,Kim Jong-Il , Hitler , Mussolini all responsible for the deaths of 150,000,000 or more people and the common theme....utopia. Have you ever read 1984 and Animal Farm by George Orwell ? If you haven't then do yourself a favour and read them , at least they will wake you from your idealist fantasy.

D.T. There simply isn’t any
D.T. There simply isn’t any rationality or logic in the liberal mind—all thought and behaviour is based on feel-good politics and emotion and nothing more.
So essentially she is arguing that there shouldn’t be separate female or male sports; there shouldn’t be separate female or male toilets; there shouldn’t be Paralympic and Olympic sports; there shouldn’t be girls’ clothes and boys’ clothes; there shouldn’t be boys’ schools and girls’ schools; there shouldn’t be…………………………………..because there should be no discrimination. So based on her own argument that there shouldn’t be any form of discrimination she is advocating the opposite which is indiscriminateness—a land of chaos.
BTW, I have read Orwell’s 1984, and that is the world we are presently beginning to live in.
Pistorius has not denied
Pistorius has not denied shooting Steenkamp. I'll let the courts decide whether it is manslaughter or murder. The known facts are limited, the rest is media froth. Did he bash her head in with a cricket bat? I have not seen anything other than media guessing what happened just because a cricket bat was removed from his house. What has his wanting to run against able-bodied athletes to do with deciding he is guilty or not? Sure he is a bit of an arsehole with his ego but one has to admire his taking the plight of a diabled athlete out into the public arena. He has created a public persona that is newsworthy and, like OJ, the press will act like a bunch of vultures around him.
Just as with English Law, under Roman-Dutch Law he is innocent until proven guilty... but the process will be different.
Mawm, I doubt he will get
Mawm, I doubt he will get charged with first-degree murder; he will probably get second-degree. But his 'intruder' defence simply doesn't fly. No one knows exactly what happened, but it appears to me to be domestic that has turned nasty.
