Obama finally says something intelligent—‘we should encourage fatherhood’ but immediately contradicts himself

Terry Wallbank's picture

obamaAfter listening to the following Obama speech, I wonder if our John Key and his liberal cohorts in the National Party and his allies in the leftist opposition parties, who hang on every word Obama says, will suddenly come out and pretend to be conservative just as Obama did in the video below.

Yes, when nothing else works, Obama has no choice but to cynically come across as conservative because everything liberal fails. In this gun-control speech, his message was pretty much conservative.

There was one obvious contradiction in his speech, however, that was definitely not conservative which showed his doublethink liberalism coming through, and that was this:

In the earlier part of the video he said this:

“ …………we should do more to promote marriage and encourage fatherhood……………..….I wish I had a father who was around and involved……..”

Then later in the speech when referring to good parents he said this:

“………[that] includes gay or straight parents………”

The obvious contradiction is this: where is the ‘fatherhood’ in ralationships or marriages with ‘lesbian’ parents?

Watch the video and observe how much conservatism Obama borrows; see how he perversely borrows everything he and his party goes out to destroy:

Telegraph video of Obama’s speech

Conservatism Obama borrows:

“There is no more important ingredient for success, nothing more important for us in reducing violence than strong stable families…….” Conservative

“….which means we should do more to promote marriage…..” Conservative

“…..and encourage fatherhood…..” Conservative

“Don’t get me wrong, as the son of a single mum who gave everything to raise me…………I turned out okay……………We have got single mums out there…………..and we are so proud of them……..” Liberal

“……but at the same time I wish I had a father who was around and involved…” Conservative

“…loving supportive parents and by the way that includes foster parents, grandparents……” Conservative

“…..includes gay [parents]…..” Liberal

“…..or straight parents” ……Conservative

“Parents supporting kids is the single most important thing—unconditional love for a child….” Conservative

“…if a child grows up with parents who have work and some education and can be good role models…..” Conservative

“……..and can teach integrity, responsibility, discipline and delayed gratification—all those things give a child the kind of foundation that allows them to say ‘I can make my future what I want” Conservative

Virtually everything in that video was stolen from the conservative playbook; virtually everything is the opposite of what liberals promote; they promote welfare, easy divorce, solo mothers, gay marriage, and no personal responsibility, etc.—everything that detracts from strong, stable families.

When reading the following telegraph article from which the above video was sourced, I was more interested in the conservative message in the video as opposed to what the article said. However, for those who wish to read it, it is posted below.

Telegraph article:

Barack Obama says 'I wish I'd had a father' as he addresses guns in Chicago

President Barack Obama today urged the young men of America to help tackle gun violence by taking responsibility for raising their sons, using an emotional return to his home city to admit: “I wish I'd had a father who was around and involved”.

In an unusually personal speech at a school in his old Chicago neighbourhood, Mr Obama, who was raised by his mother, said his attempts to introduce new gun control laws must be matched by more men behaving like role models who are “held up in respect” by their sons, grandsons and nephews.

“There's no more important ingredient for success, nothing that would be more important for us reducing violence than strong, stable families, which means we should do more to promote marriage and encourage fatherhood,” said Mr Obama.

Hailing his “heroic” late mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, “who gave everything she had to raise me”, Mr Obama said in one of the most candid statements of his presidency: “At the same time, I wish I had had a father who was around and involved”. Read more
